You will contribute by

  • Grow coach and lead a team of social & digital managers, producers.
  • Deliver insights to proactively get ahead of trending content and support monetization efforts across the Business and with clients.
  • Evolve the content creator, influencer, and talent strategy to support growth of channels and support monetization of our social channels.
  • Expand and enhance strategies to drive fans to subscribe across all channels and collaborate with the so.da team members to improve subscription platforms and optimize web features.
  • Manage overall audience development testing strategy—including consumer funnel optimization, distribution channel mix, and headline and image optimization.
  • Establish ongoing tracking and measurement of key audience growth KPIs (audience growth, engagements, video performance, etc)
  • Explore new distribution platforms and, in collaboration with editorial stakeholders, evaluate whether the brand should participate, and communicate best practices for traffic driving and engagement (in conjunction with larger Aud Dev, Social Strategy, and Business Development teams).
  • Identify new growth opportunities and best practices based on emerging digital trends, competitive business intelligence, and consumer insight.
  • Lead the strategy for our mid-form series, so.da originals.
  • Partner with portfolio leads to craft initiatives that introduce Corus content to new fans across and build loyalty with its existing audience, and will be responsible for developing and implementing a content distribution strategy that will extend the reach and amplification across search, newsletters, multiple social networks, and more.
  • Manage and oversee Lifestyle & Entertainment editorial content program, identify opportunities to standardize in-house and freelancer editorial video-first content production processes, developing and monitoring KPIs to assess program performance, setting editorial standards, and integrating partner teams into the content development cycle.
  • Regularly evaluate new trends and content performance, leveraging our own data, market research, social media monitoring, web analytics, SEO data, and other sources, to identify new white space for our content, suggest new mediums to leverage, strategize growth opportunities, and relay to senior leadership how the program is performing.
  • Develop and execute on an audience growth strategy, building out tactics within social media, email, paid marketing, and publisher networks, to regularly engage with our reader base, expand our reach, drive new partnerships, and funnel repeat traffic back to our digital properties.
  • Regularly coordinate content calendars with marketing, business development, sales and SEO teams, building processes to translate business objectives into engaging audience-first content, build efficiencies between teams, drive consistent messaging between channels, and enrich content with SEO keywords.

Skills & Expertise you will bring

  • Post-secondary education in public relations, journalism, social media, digital marketing, or relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in journalism, social media, digital PR and growth marketing, with at least 5 years directly managing editorial and growth marketing staff
  • 10+ years of experience in the media industry, with a thorough understanding of online business models and strategies.
  • Ability to clearly articulate and present analyses to all levels of management, including c-suite executives and Editorial leadership.
  • Entrepreneurial, digitally savvy, with exceptional analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Hands on experience with key digital marketing, content marketing, and demand generation toolsets, including Tubular, Brand Watch, Google Analytics, BuzzSumo, Hootsuite and/or related platforms.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, ability to manage strategic projects alongside multiple ongoing operational initiatives.
  • Ideal if you love shopping, and have built content tailored to the household and lifestyle needs of our audiences.
  • Knowledge of general SEO best practices is a strong asset, including how to develop engaging, SEO rich content in multiple formats, while adhering to webmaster guidelines.
  • Ability to adapt methods in engaging with key influencer, including both paid and non-paid forms of outreach. Existing network within publishing and content creator spheres is a significant asset.
