KEY DELIVERABLES

  • Development and implementation of brand strategies, in line with Global company objectives.
  • Developing the marketing strategy for new and existing products/brands. Working with R&D all driven by consumer insights.
  • Overseeing implementation of the Marketing strategy - including campaigns, events, digital marketing, and trade marketing.
  • Manage and own brand P&L Statements with direct responsibility for achieving Gross Sales, Contribution Margin, Advertising and Promotion, and Operating Income targets.
  • Monitor, track, and analyze results of marketing initiatives to drive efficiencies.
  • Analyze and report on brand P&L statements monthly to deliver against budget targets.
  • Working closely with the company’s Senior Sales Manager; enabling them to meet their commercial objectives by providing them with appropriate tools, materials and presentations.
  • Ensure that the marketing objectives are implemented successfully by the marketing team.
  • Manage social media/digital presence and direct programs to improve digital marketing reputation and recognition.
  • Undertake continuous analysis of competitive environment and consumer/category trends.
  • Own Canadian innovation/brand ideation, and key lead for Product Commercialization meetings.
  • Provide monthly reports on all aspects of your business and be the communication hub to ensure flawless execution of your plans.
  • Develop your Direct Report and work closely and productively with your cross functional team to achieve success.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Marketing
  • Develop Annual and 3 Year Brand/Portfolio Plans and Budgets.
  • Oversee implementation of marketing initiatives.
  • Manage, analyze and report on the brand P&L statements monthly to deliver against budget targets.
  • Provide Monthly Advertising and Promotional Expense Forecasts.
  • Work with Global Marketing and R&D teams to identify and commercialize innovation/New Brands funnel.
  • Attend monthly new product development meetings online or at Head Office.
  • Work with external agencies to develop and execute brand strategic, advertising and promotional plans.
  • Monitor, track, and analyze results of marketing initiatives to drive efficiencies.
  • Cross Functional team leader for core initiatives / cross functional meetings.
  • Analyze AC Nielsen, POS Data and consumer trend data to leverage insights and modify plans as required to optimize and adjust marketing campaigns accordingly.
  • In conjunction with the Sales Manager, understand and react to short- and long-term pressures of top-line sales performance and impact on operating profit.
  • Grow brand share on a National basis.

Sales / Customer Marketing – working in conjunction with Senior Sales Manager on:

  • Customer Budgets / Sales Goals and developing customer specific activity plans.
  • Customer and Channel Specific Go to Market strategies as required.
  • Opportunities (i.e. customer specific innovation / trade marketing).
  • Category Business Reviews and New Business Launch presentations with top customers.
  • Execution of Trade Marketing Initiatives with key accounts.

People Development

  • Train and develop direct report leveraging weekly or monthly meetings and the PRDP tools in a positive and supportive manner.
  • Actively participate in company Town Hall Meetings to share insights and key learning to help engage and motivate all employees.

The Ideal Candidate

Characteristics / Skills and Qualifications

  • University Degree in Marketing or Business
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive brand management experience (in CPG, F&B, or OTC)
  • Ideally looking for candidates that have worked with traditional retail customers such as Shoppers Drug Mart and Walmart.
  • Demonstrated Strong Project Management and Cross Functional Team Leadership skills required
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to convert insights into actions and recommendations
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills to interpret sales performance and market trend information and act/react accordingly
  • Ability to multi-task and the ability to thrive in a changing environment with tight timelines
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office (Excel (pivot tables) and PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with ACNielsen and POS tools, etc
  • Previous managerial experience
  • Must have a valid Canadian Passport and ability to travel to the USA
  • Some travel may be required (ex, agencies, vendor, trade shows, Mentholatum subsidiaries)
