Essential Duties and Accountabilities

  • Responsible and accountable for all shipping, receiving, and distribution activities to ensure all internal processes and procedures are preserved and are accurately completed in a timely manner.
  • Meets warehouse financial standards by providing annual budget information; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions.
  • Meets company ethical and legal standards by ensuring all personnel and safety related guidelines are met. Upholds JTEKT’s safety program and goal of zero workplace accidents.
  • Maintains storage area by organizing floor space; adhering to storage design principles; recommending improvements. Keeps up to date on technological advances in distribution theory.
  • Maintains inventory by conducting periodic physical counts; reconciling variances; inputting data.
  • Keeps equipment operating by enforcing operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; requiring preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications, attending classes to be decided in conjunction with local management and quality advancement team. Benchmarks performance by visiting other distribution centers.
  • Ensures on-time delivery; work with Customers to ensure total customer satisfaction; meeting all customer requirements; continuously going ‘above and beyond’ to exceed expectations
  • Quality Control; maintain quality of commodity/inventory/products
  • Meets warehouse operational standards by contributing warehouse information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying warehouse system and process improvements to ensure achievement of company financial plans.
  • Review manpower to ensure warehouse is always adequately staffed
  • Responsible for identifying and submitting capital equipment or special machinery improvements.
  • Provide for transparence by holding monthly “All Hands”, & “Round Table Meetings”
  • Responsible for Employee Corrective Counseling; documenting discipline issues; ensuring performance standards are met.
  • Work beyond regular business hours if necessary to accomplish essential job duties and meet the organization's requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position is responsible for supervising a department of a mixture of non-exempt and exempt employees in accordance with policies and procedures.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle high- volume distributions with a strong attention to detail within inventory management
  • Excellent critical thinking skills with an emphasis on analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to coach and mentor direct reports
  • Supply Chain and /or Logistics certifications an asset
  • Ability to proactively manage and anticipate competing deadlines and challenges
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite ( Excel proficient)

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or Operations Management preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Supply Chain and /or Logistics certifications an asset

  • The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
  • Travel by automobile and plane required approximately 10-20% of the time
