About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Transportation Operations Manager to oversee and optimize our daily trucking operations. This role requires a results-driven professional with strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills to ensure efficiency, compliance, and profitability within our transportation division.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate daily operations within the trucking company.
- Monitor department performance and implement strategies for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and company policies.
- Oversee scheduling and dispatching of vehicles and goods to meet operational demands.
- Manage and supervise a team of 16-20 employees, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Develop and implement transportation policies, standards, and procedures.
- Arrange and oversee shipping documentation, tracking, and tracing of goods in transit.
- Negotiate contracts, services, and preferential rates with carriers and suppliers.
- Monitor revenue, transportation service rates, and cost management.
- Organize and maintain inventory records, including cargo details, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
- Prepare reports for senior management on performance, compliance, and financial matters.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree required.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation or logistics management.
- Work Setting: Trucking company, general office environment.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team management experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a large caseload while maintaining attention to detail.
- Exceptional planning, organization, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in fleet management and logistics software.
- Financial acumen to manage budgets and optimize costs.
Work Conditions & Requirements
- On-site position – remote work is not available.
- Ability to work under pressure while handling multiple priorities.
